A Bit About Orrie

Orrie (they/them) is an actor, writer, director and producer originally from San Francisco, now based in Chicago. They serve as producer, director, and host of Jules Astaire’s Variety Hour, a live drag and comedy showcase that mixes high camp with tight artistic direction. Orrie is known for their smart comedic voice, clear directorial vision, and deep respect for collaborative artistry. As a creative leader, they take an ensemble and community-led approach seen in their work on Transsexual Creatures from Planet They (MessFest 2025), The Theater School’s Centennial Convocation Ceremony, and “Hi I’m Kurt Hummel and I’ll be Auditioning for the Role of Kicker” (MessFest 2026). They create comedy that is queer, campy, perverted, and political. Indulging in filth, satire, and the absurd to discomfort the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. Next up, Orrie will be Assistant-Directing “Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties” directed Arti Ishak, which you can come see at The Annoyance this spring.
